HSI Sensing is the innovative leader in the engineering and precision manufacturing of custom reed switch and sensor technology, introduces the Extreme Temperature Sensor.  This new temperature sensor product has a built-in technology which is can operate between minus 60 degrees Celsius and 200 degrees Celsius. Most of HSI’s standard products operate between minus 40 degrees Celsius and 125 degrees Celsius. This technology expands the capabilities of HSI’s current line of products.

Extreme Temperature technology can be applied to many of HSI’s standard products through its rapid solutions or custom engineering services. Currently, Extreme Temperature is offered standard on six different sensors.

Antenova Ltd, manufacturer of antennas and RF antenna modules for M2M and the Internet of Things, has developed a brand new antenna for the new Narrow Band IoT (NB-IoT) standard.

Built to a novel design, the antenna measures just 20 x 11 x 1.6mm, allowing excellent performance within a device, whilst being easy to integrate onto a small PCB. This is a chip antenna in the company’s lamiiANT antenna family. It is named Latona, (part no. SR4C033) and will be exhibited at Embedded World 2017, with samples available to order.

Narrow Band IoT is the latest mobile broadband standard. It uses the 3GPP licenced network spectrum which is secure and free from interference, and offers the combined advantages of low power, long range and the ability to penetrate walls and metal barriers.  Narrow Band IoT is good for connecting devices within a long range or weak-spot signal distance

C &K the provider of high-quality electromechanical switches, launched its new MDMA and MDMB 51 ways connectors.  The MDMA and MDMB 51 ways are Micro-D connectors with a unique design and removable crimp contacts.

The new  MDMA and MDMB 51 ways connectors are certified by the European Space Agency and compatible with MIL-83513 makes them ideal to use for harnesses in satellites and harsh environments. MDMA and MDMB 51 ways are compatible with standard Micro-D connectors.

The MDMA and MDMB 51 ways connectors accept one wire insulated AWG24, AWG26 and AWG 28 (external diameter at 0.97mm max), and one uninsulated solid wire AWG25. It has a twist pin contact technology. The MDMA 51 ways is ESA certified while the MDMB 51 ways follows the FR048 specification. The MDMA and MDMB 51 ways connectors are designed for use in operating temperatures spanning -55°C to +125°C. They are rated for 150Vrms working voltage and 1.5A to 3.5A maximum current (depending on the cable gauge). They have a contact resistance of 5 mΩ and a maximum contact retention force of 22.25 N. Accessories for the series include: a crimping tool, an extraction tool, a locator, and a test retention tool.

metherm released a new UL-approved circuit protection thermistor that helps to conserve power, save space and lower costs for a wide variety of applications with industry-best hot resistance, current handling, and energy ratings.

The new SL32 OR230 is the only UL-approved circuit protection thermistor on the market with a maximum continuous current rating of 30 A and “hot” resistance on the order of just 6 mΩ. This capability minimizes voltage drop to a range of 0.18 V to 0.30 V, which helps to maximize battery life and conserve power in applications such as inverters, and motor drives.

The SL32 0R230, with 20 mΩ resistance at 50% of maximum current, allows designers to reduce component count while limiting excess circuit board heat thanks to the device’s low resistance and low I²R power consumption/loss.

A high UL-approved energy rating of 100 J means the SL32 0R230 is ideal for DC applications where a lower level of inrush current is present but its duration is relatively long.

Maximum capacitance for the SL32 0R230 is 6,946 μF at 120 VAC and 1,736 μF at 240 VAC. The device’s dissipation constant is 45.4 mW/°C. The device has a maximum diameter of 31 mm and height profile of 6 mm.
