			<p><strong>Most of the Kemtron conductive elastomer profile range is available as O-Rings in all electrically conductive silicone &amp; fluorosilicone grades. Non-conductive silicone and fluorosilicone O-Rings are also available.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Small solid section O-Rings up to 15mm inside diameter will normally be compression moulded using multi cavity flash free tooling. This manufacturing method ensures very fast delivery for large volumes. Larger O-Rings are made by joining extruded strip, the jointing compound is electrically conductive ensuring good shielding integrity. Tube section O-Rings must extruded and jointed. Extruded and jointed O-Rings can be any size with developed length of many meters.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Performance</strong></p>
<p><strong>Kemtron’s Electrically Conductive Silicone Elastomer materials tests are performed in house and by external laboratories all using calibrated equipment, testing to the standard specified in MIL-DTL-83528. Kemtron offer the performance data and methods of testing to MIL-DTL-83528 for comparison only.</strong></p>
<p><strong>All of Kemtron’s test certificates and reports are available upon request. The results were obtained in laboratory conditions and should be used as a guide only. Customer hardware and many other factors are beyond our control. Therefore, customers should perform their own tests to ensure suitability of the product for the desired performance.</strong></p>

<h3><strong>Applications</strong></h3>
<p><strong>O-Rings are the most cost-effective form of seal and can be small section and small diameter for applications such as jam nut seals for connectors, waveguide flange seals, sealing screw fixings and more. Large diameter O-Rings need to located in a groove or channel in the enclosure sealing face. This groove can take a complex route around the enclosure sealing off fixing screws. The groove also forms a compression stop for the O-Ring gasket and has the added advantage of improving shielding effectiveness by achieving metal to metal contact. Moisture or pressure sealing will also be achieved by using O-Ring seals however they are only designed for static applications.</strong></p>

			<p><strong>Flat gaskets are cut from moulded sheet using state of the art reciprocation knife cutting technology or rule dies. Larger gaskets can be cut from moulded or fabricated picture frames. This option has the advantage of saving material and allows larger gaskets to be produced most efficiently. Fabricated frames use either extruded or moulded flat section that is joined by vulcanizing the polymer. We use the same conductive polymer compound to vulcanize the joints ensuring complete electrical conductivity is maintained across the joint. This process has allowed Kemtron to produce gaskets up to 2 metres long, with the same mechanical and electrical integrity as found in a single part gasket cut from sheet. This method of manufacture often offers cost savings over cutting from sheet which creates significant loss of waste material. Our in-house production facilities are suitable for prototype, short and medium production runs, as well as commercial quantities.</strong></p>

<h3><strong>Applications</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Surface mounted gaskets are to be used where groove mounted gaskets such as O-Rings cannot be accommodated.</strong></p>
<p><strong>With surface mounted elastomeric gaskets, the aim should be to limit the compression of the gasket to between 10% and 20%. 10% is the minimum recommended compression with a solid silicone style of gasket. (Some form of compression stop or limit is essential with surface mounted gaskets to prevent over compression). Compression stops can be built into many styles of gasket or made as an integral part of the flange. Their height should equal that of the maximum compressed height of the gasket. Compression stops fitted into gaskets can be in the form of collars or washers so that fixing bolts can pass through them or as solid studs located either side of a fixing bolt. We can supply a range of standard stops and collars in stocked materials. We are also able to offer special sizes and materials as required.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Extruded profiles are normally mounted into grooves or channels of a clam shell style enclosure, the groove will hold the conductive Silicone gasket strip in place and also provide a compression stop to prevent the custom gasket from being over compressed when the enclosure is closed, another advantage is that with metal to metal contact of the 2 faces of the clam shell will enhance shielding effectiveness.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Flat strip profiles can be applied as a surface mount gasket, electrically conductive or non-conductive self-adhesive backing can be applied to the gasket strip but this should only be considered as an aid to assembly.</strong></p>

Shielded vent panel effectiveness is accomplished using waveguide honeycomb design principles.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Choosing the right Honeycomb Ventilation Panels that will best meet your design considerations is based on three main criteria: shielding, air flow and mounting. For most applications, aluminum code-32 honeycomb (properly installed using MAJR’s mounting frame with integral EMI/RFI gasket) will provide a degree of attenuation that will be within specification limits (see table 1). However, for the lower frequency range (H-field), it may be necessary to specify MAJR’s material tin plated steel code-44.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Their special design lets air flow into and out of an EMI/RFI shielded enclosure. This feature allows for the cooling of electronics as well as air circulation for manned military shelters as well as electronic boxes and cabinets. The circulating air can also be used to either heat or cool an area depending on the external environment.</strong></p>

These small fan sized shielded waveguides are available in five standard sizes using a 0.250” thick honeycomb material and have an overall thickness with gasket of 0.407”. Standard gasket is a Monel wire embedded in a solid silicone with an optional gasket of a beryllium copper fingerstock. Tin plate (MIL-T-10727), nickel plate (MIL-C-26074A) or a RoHS compliant plating are available upon request.</strong></p>
