Company Profile

Incorporated in 1977 by founder and mathematics graduate Ned H. Shiflett (1924-2004), the business started operations in 1981.  IHI produced hydraulic drilling and tapping self-feeder units and built special machinery for a variety of industrial customers.  Using his prior experience in the electrical connector industry, Mr. Shiflett quickly established the Company as a custom machining house for electrical connectors.  Having grown considerably since its first year of operations, IHI Connectors™ is now a valuable partnership resource for customers requiring service and quality in a very competitively priced market sector.  The Company operates in 63,000 square feet and has over 50 employees.

Charles Ridley joined the Company in 1993 and became Mr. Shiflett’s partner in 1996.  Bringing with him a BSME and a background in machine tools, manufacturing and sales, IHI Connectors® is able to continue its thrust into advance technology special machinery to serve its connector customers unusually well. Mr. Shiflett retired in 2002 and IHI became a 100% employee owned company (ESOP).

In 2004 IHI added ISO 9001:2000 registration to its already comprehensive quality system. IHI maintains current its certification.

The 2010’s. IHI continues to grow, adding depth in leadership with two additional highly talented technology entrepreneurs from well respected local engineering and business universities. IHI intends to continue leading in design of advanced manufacturing technology & systems and innovative wire connector designs, to address customers needs into the future.

2013. IHI adds FLEX wires classes G, H, I, DLO, Metric class 5, and class K to its existing Listed Lug wire approvals for B, C and metric class 2 with NRTL facilities UL and CSA.

IHI uses alluminum alloys, copper alloys, and stainless steel in the manufacture of their products. Products manufactured by IHI include wire to wire (splicers/reducers), wire to buss (lugs & collars) & wire to printed circuit board (solderable) lugs, with wire sizes from 14 AWG to 800kcmil/MCM.
